Where Is The PM - Part 2.
Had another power breakfast today. Really excellent roti chanai garing with kari ikan tenggiri and the standard teh-c kosong. Yummy.
The question is where is the Prime Minister? There could be a simple answer for this but the different answers that are coming out are creating even more questions.
The PM left for Holland on 30th July 2014. That was 13 days ago. He has not come back yet. That is a very long time for any Prime Minister to be away from any country.
"Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to meet his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte in The Hague over the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17 crash in Ukraine when he arrives Thursday (31/07/14) for a two-day working visit to the Netherlands."
Yesterday someone told me he was on holiday in Thailand. Considering the person is among the well informed, it simply means that many people do not know the PM's whereabouts. Well the PM is not on holiday in Thailand. Other people are saying 'I know but I cant say'. Macam James Bond pula.
Latest news says the PM is somewhere in Europe. One person said he is not in Holland. Another person said the PM is in Germany. And he is not on holiday. There is no official visit to Germany (otherwise it will be all over the front page of NST and TV3 news). So what is the PM doing in Germany if he is not on holiday and if he is not on leave?
The other version is the PM is "hanging around somewhere near Holland" waiting for the bodies from MH17 to be identified. Then he might fly back with the bodies, and make an announcement that he has also negotiated with the rebels for access to the crash site.
This story, if it is the official version, sort of insults the peoples' intelligence. No PM hangs around for two weeks waiting for DNA identification of aircrash victims. If you dont believe me, please recall the last time you went to a hospital waiting for someone to come out of surgery or something. Would you hang around for two days? Would you hang around for two weeks?
So this story of the PM waiting (in Germany) for the remains of the MH17 victims to be DNA identified (in Holland) does not cut any ice.
In the meantime who is running the country ? By default until the PM comes back, the Deputy PM will be chairing the Cabinet meetings. And when will the PM come back? In another week's time? Two weeks time? A month?
The other theory is the PM is undergoing some medical checkups in Germany. For two weeks? How long does a blood test take? One day? A scan takes just minutes. Some tests may take slightly longer. Well the PM does undergo regular medical checkups. Talk is the PM also underwent another medical about three months ago. And that both medical checkups are related.
I hope the PMO can clear the air over the PM's exact whereabouts. How about hearing the PM talking on camera, from wherever he may be? In any event, lets wish our PM a speedy return back home. The PM is a regular guy, extremely polite and polished. Its just tough that he has such a demanding job.
